Open Settings from the Defender sidebar. Settings groups General, Workspace, Preferences, Gateway, Support, and Danger zone in one page.

Check for updates

In General, review Version, the last check time, and its result. Select Check for updates to request a new check. A pending or failed check is not confirmation that you have the latest release.

Automatic updates controls whether updates install when Defender is idle. Follow any installation or restart instruction shown. For version notes and platform requirements, see Defender releases.

Reconnect your workspace

Review the Organization domain and Email under Workspace. If the registered workspace needs reconnection, select Reconnect and complete browser sign-in with your work account. If the device is not connected, enter the domain and use Connect workspace when offered.

A registered domain does not by itself prove current sign-in or delivery. Follow any workspace connection error, then verify a fresh capture in Atlas. Contact your Cortex admin if the domain or identity is wrong rather than guessing another organization.

Change device preferences

PreferencePurpose
AppearanceAuto follows your system; Light and Dark select a theme.
Launch at loginStart Defender when you sign in.
Notify when sync needs attentionShow a desktop notification when activity cannot sync to the workspace.
Remember window size and positionRestore your chosen window bounds.

A theme or notification change does not alter which apps capture. Use Manage app connections to change a source.

Refresh policy

Under Gateway → Policy updates, select Sync policy to request an immediate policy pull. Defender also checks for updates every five minutes by default while running.

Read the returned result. A pull with no changes is different from an updated configuration; a failed pull does not establish fresh policy. This control does not create organization budgets, rate limits, or access rules.

Share diagnostics

  1. Under Support → Diagnostics, select Share diagnostics.
  2. Read the confirmation. Choose Share diagnostics to send the sanitized snapshot to support, Copy diagnostics to copy it locally, or Cancel.
  3. If copying, review the details before sharing them. Include the affected app, test time, and what happened when contacting ai-support@chaoslabs.xyz.

Copying does not send the snapshot. If a share or copy fails, keep the error and use Troubleshooting.

Start or stop Defender

Danger zone shows the current Defender state and Start Defender or Stop Defender. Follow Pause and stop capture for the confirmation and affected-app instructions. A pending or unavailable state does not confirm that the change completed.
