After setup, restart or relaunch the source when Cortex asks, then send a prompt. Cursor IDE imports completed conversations.

Configure capture by surface

Configure a web surface

Cortex supports browser capture in Chrome on macOS and Windows, and in Safari on macOS.

  1. Open Proxy → Browser & Desktop.
  2. In Web apps, select Configure.
  3. In Browser recording, turn on Web routing.
  4. For Chrome, turn on Certificate for Chrome, approve the operating-system trust prompt, and select Relaunch with Cortex.
  5. For Safari, select Open Safari.
  6. Open the site and turn on its Capture switch if needed.
  7. Send a new prompt on that site.
  8. Confirm the prompt appears in Home → Activity.

Configure a command-line surface

  1. Open Proxy → Agents.
  2. Find the installed tool.
  3. Open its row and select Connect agent, Repair connection, or the recovery action shown by Cortex.
  4. Start a new tool session when prompted.
  5. Send a new prompt.
  6. Confirm the prompt appears in Home → Activity.

Configure a supported desktop app

  1. Open Proxy → Browser & Desktop.
  2. Open the desktop-app row.
  3. Turn on Capture [app name].
  4. Select Relaunch when the app shows that action.
  5. Send a new prompt after the application reopens.
  6. Confirm it appears in Home → Activity.

Configure Cursor IDE

  1. Open Proxy → Agents.
  2. Open the Cursor IDE row.
  3. Turn on Import Cursor local history.
  4. Complete a conversation in Cursor.
  5. Confirm the completed conversation appears in Home → Activity.

Cursor IDE imports completed conversations from its local database. It does not route live IDE traffic through the Cortex relay.

Configure local MCP capture

Contact the Chaos Labs team to configure local MCP capture. After configuration:

  1. Restart the application.
  2. Run a local MCP tool.
  3. Confirm the activity appears in Home → Activity.

Test each source

Configure and test every source you expect Cortex to capture. One successful capture does not verify other browsers, agents, desktop apps, or MCP sources.

Use Verify Sensor setup for the end-to-end check. If a supported source does not capture after configuration, use Troubleshoot Sensor.
