What this walkthrough covers
- Organization profile: the name and optional logo employees see in Cortex Defender.
- Identity: workspace domain so Defender can route sign-in to your SSO.
- People: CSV import (or one-by-one) so reports attribute activity to the right person.
- Apps: connect GitHub (or another workplace app) so captured activity sits next to company work.
The recording stops when Cortex is ready to deploy. Defender rollout is a separate walkthrough; use Deploy Cortex Defender until that video ships.

- 00:00 What Cortex captures. Hi, I am going to set up Cortex for a team in about four minutes. Cortex captures AI tool usage across your company. It syncs activity from more than 40 AI apps, ties that activity to people, teams, and work streams, and shows you the cost and coverage in one place.
- 00:16 After Chaos Labs onboarding. After providing Chaos Labs with the org name, domain, admin email, and SSO details during onboarding, Chaos Labs has already created the organization and made the speaker the first admin.
- 00:30 Organization profile. Set the organization name (the name employees see in Cortex Defender). Logo is optional: PNG, JPEG, or WebP under 1 MB.
- 00:47 Identity and workspace domain. Cortex uses the existing identity provider. SSO is optional. The important field is the workspace domain: when an employee opens Cortex Defender they type this domain and Cortex routes them to SSO, which is how activity is attributed to the right person. Test the connection; green means ready.
- 01:18 Add people. Sync from the identity provider or upload a CSV. Download the CSV template, fill it offline, and load it. Users land with manager email, department, and related fields. Get this right now so reports stay clean. You can also add users one by one. Review the import; green means apply.
- 02:01 Connect apps. This is where Cortex gets workplace context. The demo adds the team's GitHub organization, creates an owner link, connects all repositories, and authorizes the install. You can instead select specific repositories.
- 02:48 Ready to deploy. Cortex is ready to deploy to users. A later video covers deploying individually with the Windows, Mac, or Linux installer, or via Jamf or Intune depending on internal policy.
